Welcome to Skipton and Ripon Labour Party
We would like to thank everyone who helped during this general election, including our Labour party members, all the volunteers, but especially the voters, who were an inspiration to everyone and gave such warmth and positive feedback! Our Labour candidate, Malcolm Birks, was sadly not elected to represent the Skipton and Ripon constituency in July 2024, but he came a very close second with 17,183 votes, significantly reducing the 2019 majority of 23,694 to just 1,650.
Let’s get behind our new Labour government and start to bring some hope back to this constituency and the country.
We stand for the basic rights and opportunities that underpin a caring society: building the homes people need, keeping communities safe, funding our schools so that every child has a fair chance in life, restoring the NHS to its place at the heart of our social contract with each other and the provision of good public transport links
We are an active group of local people who love the area we live in and we work hard to promote Labour values of social justice, good quality public services and opportunities for all. We have a strong Labour presence on Skipton Town Council where we are the largest group and we have led initiatives to combat antisocial behaviour and improved public transport.
We stand against the callousness and cronyism of the Tory party, where austerity and incompetence have led to hardship in our communities and public services on their knees.
